A former Christian missionary in Iowa was sentenced to 25 years in prison for abusing a preschooler and giving them a sexually transmitted disease.

Jordan Webb, 31, was sentenced last week in Webster County after he was convicted by a jury on charges of second-degree sexual abuse, incest and child endangerment.

He'll have to serve at least 17.5 years in prison before he's eligible for parole, and he'll have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life once he's out.

According to court documents, authorities learned Webb and the child both tested positive for gonorrhea in April 2022.

Webb maintains that he didn't do what he's been convicted of, but his request for a new trial was denied before Friday's sentencing.

Marvin Smith IV is the current pastor at Harvest Baptist Church in Fort Dodge.

He vouched for Webb in a letter to the court last year, calling him a "great citizen," and a "great man in the community," saying he didn't think Webb was a danger to the community or a flight risk.

But court records show Webb was looking up how to get a second passport just a few weeks before Smith sent that letter.
